Little Phatty and Quiklok - 642

I’m thinking about buying a Little Phatty Stage 2 to play bass with live. I’t going to be my second tier board. I currently have this stand,

According to the specs, the width of the LP is 26.75". The stand I’m using, the width of the second tier would either be 30.4" or 25.9" (depending on whether I’m sitting or standing). So it’s looking like its width is too small to fit on the second tier. Even at the 25.9" setting, I’m afraid it will just reach, and any little side movement will knock it off. It needs to be a second tier board as I’m playing another keyboard underneath it (playing both bass and keys at the same time). So what does everyone that uses it as a second tier board do? Are there any stands you would recommend or other options? I was thinking I could angle the second tier extensions in a bit, but I’m not sure how much pressure they would be able to handle that way.

Thanks for any help

Ideally, you would want to rotate the L-shaped end caps at the front edge of the upper tier so that it held the front of the Phatty even at a 10 or 15’ angle. Not sure if these are riveted in or adjustable. Maybe somebody has the stand here and can comment.

I have an old QuikLok 2 tier for my Phatty and MiniMoog VOS combo and despite the single brace, it’s solid. Here’s a pick of the two keyboards on it. Note that on the left side of the upper tier, there is a screw that can be backed out so that the end caps can be angled. If nothing else, you ought to be able to set up yours by drilling a hole through and setting a screw or nut/bolt.

I’m not sure if it’s an option for you but if you look closely at the picture, there is a “Lock-Tight” adjustment on the back of each of the mains that let you angle the upper tier so that it is vertical after adjusting the height (and width) of the bottom section. Based on what appears to be a positively locking set of teeth, there wouldn’t be any risk of it slipping if you had then angled in.
Hope this helps with a few ideas.

This pic is of my ‘H’ stand which has a very wide bottom (intentionally) for my Taurus 3 pedals. As a result the upper tier is too far apart for the 2 octave kbd I have there, so I built this handy tray (in the spirit of Taurus). You can forget about being fancy with the end pieces and just attach a front edge to a platform if you are handy. I painted this with black paint and it’s held up well.

That’s great EMwhite, thanks.

There are a locking set of teeth on each of the second tier extensions, so I can definitely angle them in more. I was worried that, if they were angled in more, and not perpendicular to the ground, that too much pressure would cause them to snap or break. Thinking about it more, and the materials used, I doubt I would be able to actually break it just by playing a keyboard on them. I never thought of making a board for it to sit on, so I’ll definitely make something like that up as well and try it out.

Thanks a lot.
