I have searched for a decent line mixer for my Voyager and other synths and have been leaning towards the Rane SM82S:
I really don’t want mic pre’s or EQ, but I do appreciate the Rane Aux send. I noticed this a rev 2 for this product which basically includes a built in power supply, so there is no wall wart. I’m really just looking for a simple, clean mixer to go to my powered monitors when I’m messing around at home.
The Rane SM82 is excellent. I also chose them because I did not need EQs or 60dB mic preamps.
As my studio expanded I added a second SM82, then a third. They have EXPAND inputs/outputs that is used to chain SM82s together without consuming input channels.
The Rane mixer appears similar to the Rolls RM203 I use with the Voyager. Like MC, I had no use for EQ or Mic preamps, so I was looking for a simple multi-channel mixer like this product. I came across a used one at GC for $25 - a deal I couldn’t refuse:
The RM 203 is a 10-channel stereo mixer (20 inputs) with one Aux Send/Receive channel, a ‘Tape Input’ channel and a Master volume control. The L/R balance and Aux Sends are tiny pot shafts beneath each of the rotary level controls - not as nice as the sliders on the Rane, but just as functional.
