I’ve been looking into getting a voyager lately, and I have a question about the LFO sync options. Basically what I would like to be able to do is have the LFO (routed to filter cutoff) restart it’s phase every time I begin a legato phrase (in single trigger mode), and not be retriggered until any held keys have been released and a new key is played. Make sense? Is the ‘KB’ mode in the LFO sync menu going to get me this effect?
A lot of digital synths have this capability, but it seems kind of rare in the analogue world. My studio electronics ATC-Xi has this function, and I’ve become completely addicted to it. Hoping the voyager can pull it off too.
this is of cause possible on the Moog Voyager.
You have to set the LFO SYNC to KB as you assumed.
Then Set the patch to SINGLE TRIGGER (EDIT menu).
You might also change the KEYBOARD MODE there to LOWER KEY (like the original Minimoog did), HIGHER KEY, LAST KEY (so legato work in both playing directions on the keyboard). The 1 KEY ONLY would not work for legato at all.
And this is not a global setting, but per patch!
Yes, the Voyager is a synth often thought to be just a basic one. But in the deep of the menues you find many useful things many other synth (incl. digital ones) do not offer at all.
Thanks a lot for the replies. This is great news. I love my ATC-Xi (VERY capable analogue synth), but the rack + midi keyboard setup is a bit of a pain in the ass for me since it’s the only piece of rack gear I’ve got and I like to gig light: drum machine, keyboard synth, tabletop synth/sequencer and one or two effects.
Yeah, the voyager and I are going to get along just fine.
