LFO rate 1v/oct?

Hi,
I wonder if the CV-controlled LFO rate is supposed to be 1v/oct or not. I can patch the synthesizer to produce a nice triangle sound but the keyboard is definitely out of tune in this mode (frequency increments are smaller than they should be). You know, my plan was to use the LFO as a second VCO :smiling_imp:

You can fine tune ( it is not very very precise) this by inputing KB into Mix 1 then let vc mix go into lfo rate. Tweak the vc mix pot to fine tune the lfo. Enjoy !!!

Yeah, no, that’s not going to work. You can fine-tune it too attenuate it, which I’ve been doing to the filter resonance sine. That works, it tracks acceptably well across 2.5 octaves and detunes rather pleasantly after. But with the LFO rate, frequency increments are too small to begin with. I’d need to “amplify” it, not attenuate it.

Best I got it to track (up to around D3, maybe that Eb above it, if the thing isn’t being temperamental) was multing the KB CV out to both Mix1 and the Mix CV input at the same time.

edit it was actually up to D4. However, there is a lot of temperamental behavior to expect from this set up: as you move across the second octave and go into the third, you’ll notice the LFO goes out of tune until you hit that 3rd octave. But, if you stay in that 2nd octave, you’ll notice the LFO adjust and gets back in tune on its own. Very weird, but very fun nonetheless. edit

I noticed that, every octave, I had to shift the CV mix up when I was using attenuation alone. It seemed like a fixed interval that was off, about a semitone. So, I figured I would try sending the KB CV out to do the same thing, i.e. turn up the CV every octave by a set amount. I messed with the attenuation until the KB would sort of compensate for itself as I played up. It’s still funny to hear the LFO drone after G.

I believe the VC mix is set precisely at 9 o’clock.

I also tried this with the filter. I was surprised by the results; not what I expected, but very pleased nonetheless. I feel like it almost gets the filter to clip in an unusual way. Hmmm. I was a little out of my head at the moment, could have been something else doing that. Anyways, if you haven’t tried this yet, it’s a cool gag. Nice as a sub or a cool detuned sound on the lower register.
