Hi guys - this is a bug. Sorry about that. I’ll explain what’s going on:
First of all, when you first turn on the Taurus and are not sending MIDI clock to it, the LFO Rate adjusts fine, regardless of whether LFO Sync is set to MIDI or OFF.
If LFO Sync is set to OFF, then the Taurus LFO is not affected by MIDI clock; it will continue to run freely and will be freely adjustable.
If LFO Sync is set to MIDI and you are sending MIDI clock, then the LFO Rate control adjusts the clock divisions of the MIDI sync. So far, so good.
Here’s the bug: If while you’re motoring away in MIDI Sync mode, you change the LFO Sync to OFF, or if you pull the MIDI plug (cutting off the clock messages) without sending a MIDI Stop message, then the LFO gets confused. It’s still waiting for another MIDI clock to come in, and it doesn’t switch back to its internal clock.
I need to add a couple of simple commands to handle switching the clock back to internal, and then all will be well.
For now, if you are using a sequencer or source of MIDI clock that can send an actual MIDI Stop message when you stop the clock, a MIDI Stop will switch the LFO clock back to internal so you can adjust the rate freely again.
Barring this, a Master Reboot (found on the Master menu, System Utilities) will shake it out of this state, as long as you’ve stopped sending it MIDI clocks in the meantime. Or of course cycling the power will do the same thing.
So the only two things that specifically don’t work are changing the LFO Sync from MIDI to OFF while MIDI clocks are coming in, and stopping the MIDI clocks without sending a MIDI Stop message from your sequencer.
Again my apologies, and I’ll be sure to sort this out in the next update.
Best,
Amos
