Left-Handedness revisited

Hi –

I just bought my first Etherwave kit, and I have a question that maybe some of you might have an opinion on.

I’m a right-handed guitar player, have been playing for 30+ years, and this is my first attempt at Theremin. I’m pretty strongly right-handed, but of course, being a guitarist, I’m used to producing pitch with my left hand and producing the note with my right. I do play some slide guitar, so I’m also at least somewhat used to having to make pretty precise movements to attain pitches.

Does it therefore make sense for me to learn to play Theremin left-handed, or are there other considerations about playing Theremin that make this idea impractical?

Any guitar players out there? What are your thoughts?

Thanks!

Howdy

I am a lifelong guitar player as well and simply turn my Etherwave around after setting it up.

It is a lot easier for me to play it “from the back”. I imagine that it has something to do with being naturally left handed as well. I play guitar right hand style tho.
