Learning to love my Sub 37

I have owned a Sub 37 for a few years but never really got to grips with it and I realised it had spend a little too much time hidden under its dust cover whilst I concentrated on my Elektron and DSI synths. I found it easy to produce gritty bass patches but struggled with creating more mellow and ambient sounds.

I really didn’t want to sell it, so I decided to bury my head in the manual for a few hours and create a track to explore some aspects of the machine that I had not looked at before (I needed some music for an animation I had created). I was pleased with the results and now have a better understanding of the synth.

I am really glad that I persevered with the Sub 37.

Wow.
Some super nice patches

So it shows that a little love and a some serious attention can do a lot!
I have only ‘just’ purchased a subsequent 37 and really can’t stop playing.

It sounds so nice and there are so many possibilities.

PS, I subscribed to your channel.

If you look at my most recent 2 video’s you can check some of my work with the s37

Great channel. Love the polyphonic vid. Subscribed!

Thanks!
Hope to be adding many more in the future

Beautiful! Glad you came back to your Sub 37 and thanks for sharing!

+1
Some great tones and textures there. Love the fat grittiness. The Sub37 does seem to take some time to get to know. I’ve had mine for a year or so and am only now getting to really understand its ways.

Lovely work. I’m subscribing!

I think the SUb37 does the obvious gnarly sounds really easily but it can do an awful lot more and great to hear you’ve delved deeper. I did almost the same thing. I spent loads of time exploring my prophet and kind of glossed over the SUb37 for a bit.
I’m now doing the same deep dive with my matrixbrute.
