I play in a company jazz band and tonight is one of our rare non-company gigs at a fundraiser. We’re pulling off some fusion including “Birdland”. In order to be faithful to the Weather Report arrangement I have to bring Voyager, Memorymoog, and Taurus 3. Lot of synth parts going on in that song!!! This will be FUN!

No time to set up video, unless the event photographer got it. Our drummer did capture it on his stereo recorder, will report back when he gets us copies.
The night before I managed to dial up a nice SEM brass on the Memorymoog. I didn’t have the MIDIBoard to pre-plan patch changes so I did the patch changes manually. Even had to write the patch roadmap on the sheet music. I was busy during that song!
The gig went really well. So well that we were asked to play Birdland again (!) That was our last song for the night.
Thanks for that Weather Report… maybe we can see the action soon at a station nearby.
