Is this a normal amount of noise bleed for a DFAM?

Hey all,
Could I borrow your ears for a minute to take your opinion on whether the issue I’m having with my DFAM is normal operation? I’m having issues with a seemingly high amount of noise leaking into the signal at the VCA stage.

I’ve seen a few videos on youtube where the demonstrator has turned all mixer settings to 0 and the machine has become silent. The one I have here doesn’t do that – there will be a clearly audible noise sounding that follows the VCA envelope but isn’t affected by the filter

It seems quiet, but it’s clearly hearable at performance , audible over low-heavy patches volume and very troublesome when working with compression or distortion.

I’ve recorded some samples from the machine:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ncsiwjx7kby199p/DFAM-test.wav?dl=0

The first part of the example is a kick synthesized by VCF EG with cutoff at min, resonance at max (all mixer levels 0), then resonance turned down to 0 revealing the noise.

The second part is an ‘init’ patch with the audio coming from VCO1, which is then rolled back to all mixer settings 0, revealing the noise.

The third part is init patch with all mixer controls at 0, boosted up to clearly audible level. I can actually clearly hear the other VCOs here too.

I’ve also included a visual analysis of the file:

This noise seems to be coming from the VCA stage as it isn’t affected by the filter. It feels like a lot to me – if I use a compressor or allow the DFAM to be exposed in the mix then it’s very obvious.

Is this normal DFAM behaviour or is there potentially an issue with this unit?

Thanks,
Oscar

Since i wrote the support and didn’t get any feedback i will try that here. Two weeks ago i bought a DFAM and a Mother-32.

With the DFAM i got some Problems also. The Volume is close to none existent. Sometimes i am up to -32db or lower. I also had to crank up my input gain in the daw up to +20db and also the compressor output gain to max: +20db to get proper sound out of it. The noise is coming with it. I have to lowpass to get rid of high noise. Can’t GainStage it.

Really disappointed by the support. I paid closley 600 bucks for this and no reaction on my support ticket. 1st two Moog Products i bought. Maybe the last also. For example i have no problems with my DSI Prophet Rev 2 or even my Behringer Model D. They are strong in the input without remarkable ground noise they are also gain staged.

Edit*
Just saw in another thread that the Mother-32 had same issues. The solution was to use a TS cable instead of an TRS Cable. Will try that tonight. Lets hope i will get a better drive out.
