Hello,
I have just purchased a 2nd hand MF102 on ebay, and need it to establish if it is functioning correctly:
When in LO mode, the left hand side (LFO/ Waveshape) has no bearing on the signal, only when i switch to HI, does the rate, waveshape and amount have any effect on the signal.
Therefor, at present i have a lovely tremolo sound in LO mode (frequency set to low), but cant switch between square and sine waves to drive the LFO.
Is this normal?
Also, when i do get the tremolo sound (rate driven by frequency), the frequency very subtly increases and decreases- i presume this is the effect of the carrier signal (ie. it’s not a pure LFO).
Yep, that’s about the size of it as far as I can tell. Certain settings disable other settings. The manual should be available at moogmusic.com under the MF-102 subsection of the MoogerFooger section.
Welcome to the forums! I’m afraid that Voltor is mistaken about some settings disabling others on the Ring Modulator (he probably meant that some settings mask the effects of others). The controls on the RM are never disabled for any combination of settings.
Anyway, to convince yourself that the waveform switch is working in LO mode, make the following settings on the RM:
LFO Amount - 10
Mix - 10
Frequency - 10
Rate - 12 o’clock (straight up)
Lo/Hi Switch - LO
Plug in your instrument and set the Drive knob to an appropriate level. Now play a few notes while switching between square and sine waves - you should hear a clear difference.
