Im unsure if this is a silly question or not but i would like to get a nice acoustic piano sound from the RME…and well im unsure how to make one, infact i cant even find a piano preset..
Can anyone helpe me, is this possible with the Voyager being a synth instead of a piano?
An analog synth will never get real close a to a piano sound. And the Voyager is always monophonic. And you don’t play a piano monophonic all the time.
Every 20$ second hand GM module will give you a better piano sound then an analogue synth.
IMO, if you want acoustic piano sounds, it is best to sample. A real piano has certain overtones/harmonics that are difficult to reproduce by subtractive synthesis. Also, the RME is a monosynth, so unless you were sequencing and layering parts it would be impossible to produce chords.
Having said that, it is possible to make electric piano sounds on a synth; there are numerous “clav” and “rhodes” patches out there. My Rhodes Chroma does this nicely (as well as my real Rhodes ).
If you want a piano then you realy want to be throwing your money at a Roland synthesizer,
no offence but you shouldnt in your wildest dreams expect a moog to produce anywhere near a piano sound, its just not what there about.
do a google search for,say “ROLAND RACKMOUNT” i bought a roland xv-3080 rackmount for just under $300 (£150) and it has a super high quality piano
THe Roland Fantom XR would be a great module for the voyager.
You get the fantom engine in a 1U rack space. You can control it via midi and run it back into the voyager for the polyphony.
It has lots and lots of sounds, waveshapes, beats and more stuff that sounds fantastic. It will serve you well for the piano sounds that you want, but since you are using the rme I don’t know what you would be controlling it with.
Its about 1200 bucks though and Id like to have that as the digital brain of my modular setup when its completed.
