Interference

until this point, my Phatty has stayed nice and cozy in my room. now I will be taking it on the road with me and my schools drumline. Is there anything I need to avoid? like radio or magnetic interference?, Also any road tip would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Nothing really other than common sense. It’s a little thing with me, but I try to keep anything with a CPU (and of course a hard drive) away from large speaker with big magnets. I am pretty maniac about this. Just this once i broke my own rule a month ago when I installed my new Midi-Murf just on top of a tower speaker (with two heavy 12 inches subs) because in a hurry, it was easy and convenient, plugged it in… did not work. Something was wrong, many things in fact… bypass did not work, switch was switching no pattern, envelope knob did not envelope anything. Fifteen minutes later without results, I put down the unit thinking about my options if the unit was really not working. I picked it up two days later, tried it again installed on it’s shelf along with other modules. It worked just fine. I am now double maniac about magnetism.

thanks Portamental,

now for the real question, our last competition is the WGI World Championships, held in Dayton, Ohio. I live in the Tampa, Florida area, and when we travel to Dayton, I will have to take my LP with me, (duh) the question is do I take it on the plane with me, or do I subject it to 1,100 mile road trip in the equipment truck?

I think you know the answer to your own question.

Anyway, it has been said on here a few times that the LP in a gig bag can fit in an overhead. If it must go on the truck use an ATA case and make sure your school’s insurance will cover any damage.
