It is odd how my preferences have changed. A year ago, I thought doing without presets or MIDI would be a serious handicap. Now, I see the knobs/switches and lack of menus on the Old School as a plus. If I did need MIDI, then adding an MP-201 seems like a great solution.
Absolutely. On both counts. The OS is a very satisfying hands on instrument to play and to own. And the sound, I mean… I stop here before I write volumes.
I wanted one as soon as they announced the release of the OS. Unfortunately, I had just bought an LP a few months before, so I couldn’t justify the purchase of one then. Then they abruptly quit making them, though Nova Musik has a couple on e-bay right now, and Sweetwater as a couple as well, according to demon dan. Can’t afford one now either, though, because of the Taurus III!
YES!! I learned everything i know about synthesis on softsynths but something about the OS just seemed right…screw midi man…CV is just so much more fun!! Patches…well once you understand ur way around u dont need em…
I’m a little confused in the meantime about the availability of a Voyager Old School. Is this instrument still manufactured or is it already discontinued?
Many thanks in advance for a clarification in that matter.
Discontinued. An outstanding synthesizer that did not met commercial success enough to make it viable, it seems. Go figure, a better than model D minimoog overall (if a tiny bit less vintage sounding).
They announced producing a last batch of 200 a long time ago, these took a long time to sell. Even if advertised, check for availability. Very few remaining.
I am glad I seized the opportunity, it’s my pride and joy.
