I go to my “day job” (real musicians have those ) everyday at four o’clock AM !!
So my lunch break is at 9am.. I have a routine of supporting the corporate demon known as Starbucks in the NW Portland Oregon neighborhood I work in.
Nice dude Josh the Barista noticed my hoodie or tattoo and he commented “Oh I used to have a Moog. It never really worked right and I gave it to my friend in Texas. I don’t think he ever fixed it either”..
I was like " Well, hey if you ever go back to Texas grab it from your buddy"…
Needless to say, about 2 months later I came in and the other baristas told me their was a keyboard in the back for me..
There I was leaving with my americano and a Moog Source under my arm.
Next day, Josh was working and he told me " Ehhh.. Yeah, you can just have it"… I was like " WHATTTT?"…
So, it does need some work to get up and running. A little beyond my scope of techiness But it is in the shop right now. So whatever the repair ends up being will be the price tag
I know.. You guys all hate me.. Why do I always get all the luck.. (Like the 20 dollar polymoog on craigslist… )
I don’t know how lucky you are though.
When I gave you that Fender P-bass, it got stolen and before that, your house burned down.
Sounds more like Karma is repaying you for lots of bad luck.
But they’re cool synths when working, so I wish you more good luck in that dept.
Good luck with it. Its a great sounding synth. Steve Molitz was using one with Jason Myles the night you opened MOOG FEST in 2005. Good things happen to good people. Heres a little trivia, the Source was named by Herb Deutsch. He named it after the Source Mall which was a wing of the Roosevelt Field Shopping Mall in Long Island NY in the 1970’s. He told me that the Source Mall had everything in it and so did the Moog Source! Pretty funny, but true!
I agree with Kevin, Nick. You are getting good luck in place of bad luck…and no one is more deserving of that than you. Congratulations on a great find!
Nice Nick, congrats
a best friend of mine got an Hammond L100 from his neighboor for free,
and after a month he got for free a “rubber soul” Greek press vinyl album that in auctions sold for $$$$:
LOL! I need that ph. # too, I heard his Grandma has an old “organ thingy” in the attic that hasn’t worked in years, a Yamaha GX-1 or some such thing… Just haul it away & its yours, sonny…
Well, I am super blessed in that department as well ! I’m blessed with two beautiful young ladies…
Here’s a recent pic of me and my beauties with our new buddy Bootsy Wink
O.K. man, you beat us just in every area
but it doesn’t stop me to feel happy about you,
I know, a slice of hippy mentallity here, but that’s just me
