Anyone know if there is good tutorials or how to learn moog sub phatty.

Well, there’s the Sub Phatty User Manual… a good place to start. But if you are new to synthesizers and are looking for more general info:

Online: Among many other sources, Sound On Sound did an entire series called ‘Synth Secrets’ a few years ago. You might want to check it out (Google it).

Books: For many years I’ve recommended Jim Aiken’s book “Power Tools for Synthesizer Programming”. The book is still current and is an excellent resource for anyone looking to gain a better understanding of the fundamentals of sound design.

Neither of these deals expressly with the Sub Phatty, but both cover the basics that will allow you to get up to speed very quickly.

You should start with the new York school of shynthesis videos on YouTube.

For the basics, the Moog Foundation has produced a series of videos, The Foundation of Synthesis. Rob Papen also has a book that comes with 4 DVDs: The Secrets of Subtractive Synthesis.

On the Sub Phatty, there is no much, but in YouTube, I like the videos with Marc Doty and Amos, but you probably know about those, and they are more about showing what the Sub Phatty can do, than how to do it.

I’ve read the Sound on Sound articles, and they’re very enlightening. I’m going to check out the resources posted here.

I find reading the manual two or three times and keeping it handy for reference is the best way to become familiar with a new instrument.

I did not win a Vostok last year on eBay, but I must says the pin matrix gets me drooling :slight_smile:

TELEMETRY is totally great! It makes me very curious about the EMS synthi and Putney — anybody here using them? May not be for everybody, but it fits right into my other eurorack format gear: Patchpoint SEM, Station Y ~ so it was immediately useful to me. The Envelope Generator has a Repeat function a little like intellijel’s QUADRA. I think that this EG may also be modelled on EMS. Still early days, but very much full of surprises.. i’m getting some of the really crazy stuff I expected, though perhaps more like plagues of Daria Argenta insects than the meowing cats, crying babies and R2D2 I tend to get out of the ARP and the Korg MS-10.

See if you can pick out Zack Galifinakas and Jeff Garlin laughing and talking starting about a third of the way through and then later Mavis Staples at the end — I fed the audio signal through the Telemetry with an LFO fed into the pin matrix
