Must be getting old… the manual explains how to select a particular character in a saved patch name, but how do you actually advance the cursor?? ![]()
Also, once you Cursor away from the name entering field, is there any way to “tab” back to the field?

Hi,
aren’t the up/down arrows moving the cursor. I use a lot the fine tune knob to browse through the alphabet, it goes quicker.
Greg
Hi JavaLaurence,
I’ve pasted the manual text below, but will explain it a different way as well.
While in the SAVE mode, the CURSOR button alternates between two behaviors for the Up/Dwn buttons:
One of the presses of the CURSOR button will allow the Up/Dwn buttons to move right/left to different character spaces.
If you press the CURSOR button again, the Up/Dwn buttons will now scroll through the available characters.
You can also use the FINE TUNE knob to scroll through characters IF, in the GLOBAL Menu, you have the FINE TUNE parameter set to EDIT. (EDIT is the default setting.)
Ideally, you’ll mostly use the CURSOR mode where the Up/Dwn buttons move the cursor right/left, and the FINE TUNE knob chooses the characters. But… sometimes it’s hard to get the exact character (or parameter value when editing) using a knob. In those cases, simply press CURSOR one more time and the Up/Dwn buttons now start scrolling through the list of choices.
Hitting the CURSOR button one more time brings you back to having the Up/Dwn buttons move right/left and you will once again use the FINE TUNE knob to scroll values.
TO SAVE A PRESET:
And to answer your second question, I did not find a way to come back to the name, other than complete the save procedure, and re-enter it.
I guess the confusion Greg and I are having has to do with what you mean by “Cursor away from the naming field”.
If you mean that after pressing SAVE while in the naming field, you can’t get back to the naming field, then Greg’s answer will work. Although, a shorter method would be to press PRESET once, which will take you out of SAVE mode and then press SAVE again.
If by “once you Cursor away from the name entering field” you meant that you’ve used the Dwn/Up arrows to go past the naming field and onto the CAT (Category) field, then you can just keep using the Dwn/Up arrows to either backup to the naming field or, just keep going forward as the cursor wraps from the bottom of the page back to the top.
Yes, I was not sure either on which aspect was the problem, hence I convered the second possibility while you did the first one Dan
