How do I sync the Sub 37 to midi clock in Reaper?

Hi

Apologies for the newbie question but I’m having a nightmare getting the Sub 37 ARP to sync with the tempo in Reaper. I’ve got it connected to my pc via USB and I’ve tried a myriad of options but it’s just not happening. If anyone can post a simple step by step guide to accomplishing this I’ll be very grateful. Thank you!

Ok, first thing you have to do is ensure that in your Preferences where you set up the Sub 37 as a MIDI device you have selected “Send Clock To This Device” checkbox. If you don’t do this no clock will be sent.

Now to test it…

Next create a new project with a single track. Click the “Sends, Receives and Hardware Output” icon. In the “MIDI Hardware Out” section select your Sub 37 (whatever you named it) and select the MIDI channel it is set to receive on.

On your Sub 37 make sure you have pressed the Sync button on the Arpeggiator. Set your BPM in Reaper then press Reaper’s Play button on the transport bar. Your Sub 37 should play your arpeggio at that speed. Now, while it is playing change the BPM field in Reaper. Make it really fast or really slow so the difference is obvious. You will hear your arpeggio speed up or slow down.

The Sub 37 is under Reaper’s clock control. It will work when recording too.

Don’t panic if you don’t see the Sub 37 MIDI light flashing. Clock data doesn’t make the light illuminate.

Brilliant - thanks very much Rich!

Glad to help!
