Hi~
I’m new to this site and hope to find some advice here. I bought an Etherwave theremin a few months back and have been practicing. And I wanted to connect etherwave to logic, so I acquired an XLR male to TRS male cable to connect my duet audio interface to the etherwave audio output. I can hear the music, but there are more wave sounds, such as white noises; is there any way to make this theremin sound clearer without the other wave sounds (or noises)? So I can record its own sound, just as you would record other instruments or vocals? I would welcome any responses and ideas.
Thanks in advance!
“so I acquired an XLR male to TRS male cable”
That’s the wrong cable - you’ll need a TS (Line) to XLR male Cable.
Or - if you have experience in soldering:
If you bridge pins 1 and 3 at the XLR connector of your cable, you will get the correct pinout
I would even use a Duet’s line input with a simple “instrument cable”, aka TS male jack to TS male jack.
I agree with stiiiiiiive - keep it simple!
Have you recorded anything else into your interface? I’m thinking 1/4" to 1/4" will be the best way to start. Step one - try a different cable!
Another question - can you get clean sound out of your theremin into an amp or headphones? Go carefully and figure out, step by step, what the problem is.
