When I have my Messenger plugging into my Digitakt, there is some sort of malfunction with the hold.

If I hold a note (meaning, press HOLD button, hit a key, let it drone), when I turn the hold key off, it still holds. If I hit another key, it will play that note, but go back to the original note when I release.

Just updated software, still happens.

I have, btw, turned MIDI merge off (because of other MIDI problems I had trying to use Messenger with Digitakt

I clicked on the link you sent, which sent me to a page that has these topics, none of which seem to mention the hold button. Wrong link? Am I missing something?

Have the same issue.

Only fix that worked for me was to turn off local control for the keyboard.
