Hey Moog moderator: Gucci & co postings; can we end this

Likely discussed before but isn’t there a way to require a valid email address in addition to requiring some interesting information which would be difficult to fake before granting an account the ability to post?

Isn’t there a way to revoke somebody’s access after posting nonsense?

This isn’t exactly a usenet group so wouldn’t it be fairly straight forward to stop the nike shoe tiger woods madness?

It’s not the end of the world but does seem to be getting a bit more frequent.

They (Moderators) actually get on the forum once or twice a day and remove the garbage. It is a never ending job. It’s very difficult to balance security and access on a forum attached to a business. PHP allows some good security management to help prevent spamming, but since Moog doesn’t even implement the easy stuff like new posts in a thread and correctly operating search function, setting up those measures is not likely.
Betcha if you look tomorrow, that particular spammer will be gone. (And a new one will show up.)

I dunno…this guy has been a member now for 6 days…and STILL hasn’t been deleted…I wonder if the mods are on vacation?

You know, I’m really in the mood for some comfy Gucci shoes. Does anyone know where I can obtain a pair?

Maybe Amos can put in a good word with the powers that be to nominate a couple of moderators?
