[HELP]Electric Blue Edition issue, no sounds but noise?

Hi everyone, I’m Mattew, a Moog newbie. :smiley:
I just bought a Minimoog Voyager Electric Blue Edition, which features Hardware Ver3.5, system ver3.5. I’m fairly new to synthesizers and to this kind of music. Because of the language problem, it’s difficult for me to understand the Use’s Manual very well. :frowning: :question:

I tried to study and play it myself, but a huge disaster appeared. I might delete the Minimoog system by clicking MASTER-RECEIVE UPDATE mistakenly.Since that moment, every original tone sounded almost the same, which was nothing but white noise. I tried turning on/off different OSCs and PITCH wheels, but nothing happened.

I tried to update the system again, here is what I did.
4. First, imported the ‘BANK B’, the system restarted and it popped up “the operating system has to be re-loaded! Re-load BANK D? ”
5. I chose ‘NO’ and “MASTER 2.4”, then it popped up ‘waiting for system data transfer of Bank A’. After I sent Bank A and restart the system again, it still asked me ‘the operating system has to be re-loaded! Re-load bank D?’

  1. I chose ‘YES’, the operating system didn’t restart. I tried to send BANK C and restart again, it asked me ‘the operating system has to be re-loaded! Re-load bank D?’ once again. Then I chose ‘YES’, the operating system didn’t restart.

I also tried 1.1 factory reset, but seems helpless.

However, I found out that a few sounds are available, like Key Backwater etc (but the white noise is still there). In this case, clicking different keys on the keyboard can make different pitches, but the sequence of pitches were disordered.

Is it a Hardware problem? I just bought it for one month and nothing ever hit or crushed on it. It operated very well before I updated it.

When the system asks for bank D then select YES and send bank D.
You should see a bargraph and when the transfer is finished the Voyager should start normal.
If the Voyager starts again with the message to send bank D then there was no transfer or an error message.
What’s going on when you send the bank D file? Is there a bargraph, an error message or happens nothing?

OK, we start at the beginning… :wink:

There are 7 preset banks in the Voyager (6 in version 3.5):
bank A - bank G (H)
These banks have nothing to do with the operating system and when a preset bank is not initialized then there can be garbage in the display like this

If you want to fix the preset bank you have to send a preset bank to the Voyager.

Then you have four banks A,B,C and D for the operating system. Each time when you switch on the Voyager the system will check this and if there’s a wrong bit in one of the four banks you will get a message “the operating system has to be reloaded”. When there’s no message after power on everything is fine. When there is garbage on the display you have to reload the preset bank(s) not the operating system.
OK???

AND DON’T FORGET: when the Voyager is powered off for more than half a year the internal battery can be empty and you have to reload the presets and the Voyager should be powered on for a few hours to charge the battery again.

I guess your problem has nothing to do with the software - it must be a hardware problem on the analog board.
First to make sure the hardware is right press EDIT, then select “Init. Parameters”, ENTER, select YES and ENTER.
You should hear a sound (square wave).
If you hear a sound like “Shasha” noise then the analog board is broken.
Let me know what you hear…
