Can anyone recomend a brand and/or model of headphones that might be able to handle that incredible “Moog Bass”? When I am recording, I like to use headphones but the set I have, well…“B’awwaaoooOOOOO-tss-ck-tss-oooww”. It is very frustrating! Someone please help me.
Thanks,
Mr. Stranger
Check Beyerdynamic dt 770 pro
and the last model of akg which is at about 170 euros.
I have dt 770 pro and they re fine.
Here’s another vote for the Beyers. They’re the best phones I’ve heard, and the most comfortable I’ve worn.
If you can’t afford 'em, Sennheiser makes decent cans (and has a good warranty). Try the HD280 'phones at about half the price of the Beyers.
Sony headphones tend to sound “nice” to me, not “flat”, which is what I feel I get from the Beyers and Sennheisers. The Sonys have a bit of a “juiced-up” top and bottom. Good for pleasure listening, but they wouldn’t be my first choice for tracking or mixing.
I’ve heard good things about Grado from folks whose ears I trust, but haven’t used any, personally.

You could also try a pair of Fostex T50 MKIIs, which have an excellent bass response.
