Has anyone done the $50 frequency mod?

Hey everyone, I’m considering sending my LP Stage back to the factory to get the mod Amos was talking about that reduces the frequency clashing in the upper register.

But, I want to clarify whether what I’m hearing is a problem or not. I’ve created a few of my own presets that have a really smooth, low-frequency sound. But, when I have the filter resonance at about 50% and the cutoff at 25% or lower, in the upper registers, (4’) there is a clashing frequency that is almost as loud as the pitch I am playing.

It’s just very irksome, I can’t get the sounds I want. I love the LP but I would love it more if this was fixed.

QUESTIONS:
1.) Is this normal?
2.) Will the mod fix this?
3.) Will the mod change the tone, character, or anything else about my baby?
4.) Has anyone done this mod, and with what results? Are you happy with it?

Thanks for all the help, this forum community has been a great resource for my silly questions.

Hello Sky,

Not many people have done this mod. Maybe one or two. I just got an email today from our Norwegian distributor; apparently someone over there wants to do it.

Can you post or email this patch you’re talking about? I can try it on a modded and un-modded LP and let you know if the mod affects the sound you’re hearing, and maybe tell you some more about what the source of the particular clashing frequency in your patch. Without hearing it I can’t offer any more specific advice.

Cheers!

Sounds good Amos, I’m not too familiar with the LP software and e-mailing patches, etc., but I’ll certainly give it a shot over the weekend. Thanks for the advice!
