Does anyone have any recommendations for a harmonic analysis app or and AU plug-in?
I was thinking about getting the Synth Cookbook by Welsh, who recommends attaining a means of harmonic analysis when re-creating sound via backwards engineering.

Apple has one available for Mac…I believe there’s a free demo available on Apple.com. Though these guys might help if you don’t run Mac. http://synth.suggestsoft.com/
I should have mentioned that I’m running Logic on a Mac. Welsh recommends Fre(a)koscope harmonic analysis VST plugin by MDSP. But, to my knowledge, there is no way to run a VST plug-in in Logic. I’ll keep looking and post any findings here.

Just throw the .component file into your User/Library/Audio/Plugin folder and restart Logic. Should work like a charm.
