Happy 79th birthday! It’s hard to believe even now you’re no longer with us. I still remember the day, my mom told me on the way home after picking me up from school. I actually cried, even then at age 13 I knew what the world had lost. I know I wish you were still here with us, what kind of marvelous things you still could’ve brought into the world. Anyhow, enough of that sad stuff. Birthdays are to be happy occasions. If you have a birthday wish for Bob Moog, feel free post!
I had just gotten off of work and was pulling out of the parking lot. They were talking about his work on NPR and the tone of their broadcast was inevitably leading to the last sentence that usually follows the brief career cap…Bob Moog died today at the age of 71. I was stunned. I really had no idea he was even sick. My partner and I had wanted to mail him a copy of a concept album we made in his honor but we procrastinated in post-production.
I’m glad that the first word I ever had to associate with synthesizers was Moog. My father insisted on the correct pronunciation. I’m glad that I cut my teeth in synthesis on a Moog, and I’m glad people care enough to start threads like this every now and then.
Moog lives.

Bob Moog is alive, on his 79th b-day. He’s not human now though, he’s a star!
