Hey Everybody, i am new to the Moog forums, i just bought a Voyager PE, and I’m loving what i can do with it. I was wondering if any of you have had any experience with guitar effects pedals, and how they can influence the Moog tone. I have been eager to try this, but don’t know where to start. Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks,
Duesler
Hi and welcome to the forums.
“Technically” the Mooger line of pedals are guitar effects.
They work great with the Voyager.
I use a few Moogers with the Voyager.
I also use FoxRox Paradox TZF pedal.
It sounds great!!
What effects are you thinking here.
I would say just use them!!!
I sorta want to assemble a whole pedalboard, with 12 or so pedals.
My thoughts so far:
ElectroHarmonix Cathedral Reverb
ElectroHarmonix Black Finger Compressor
ElectroHarmonix Small Clone Chorus
Dunlop Heil Talkbox
Emma Stinkbug Overdrive
Pigtronix Disnortion
ElectroHarmonix Big Muff Pi
Dirty Boy Buzzy Boy
Difty Boy Afro Fuzz
ElectroHarmix Electric Mistress Flanger
Pigtronix EP2 Phaser
Pigtronix Echolution
Electroharmonix Memory Man
Pigtonix Mothership
Electroharmonix MicroSynth
Electroharmonix QTron Plus
Totally Wicked Audio Little Dipper
Dunlop Cry Baby
Please offer advice!
Thanks,
Duesler
Some of those are probably tone suckers given the wide range of frequencies the Voyager is capable of. However, that being said, if the sounds work for you, have at it. Also, if you have them strung together on a board, you may run into noise issues. Also, be aware that impedances between the pedals and the Voyager might be an issue. I’m sure someone else will be along soon who can elaborate on this one.
EXH does very well with Moog gear. I wish that I could have spent more time with the Graphic Fuzz in he Voyager’s fx loop.
THe ELectric Mistress works great, Ive run my Mirco through it before.
Rocktron Banshee Talkbox is perfect, if you want to go that route.

Ditto on the Banshee Talkbox.. works great with Moog synths.
For effects I just recently purchased a Line 6 m9… it’s nice, lots of useful effects and stereo ins and outs is a plus.
I’ve used a (vintage) MXR Phase 100 on a Voyager and my other synths. It compliments it well. I think I’ll get a MXR flanger as well.
Does anyone have experience using rich level sensitive overdrive pedals like the Fulltone OCD or Boss Blues Driver with a Voyager or Minimoog - or maybe a Sansamp PSA-1/2 rack or Rocktron Maxe?
HI Duesler -
You might want to start by checking out the 'Kicking It Up A Notch" article on KnobTweak. This article explains the various ways you can configure stompboxs in the Voyager’s Mixer Out/Filter In loop to get overdrive and distortion effects. Find it here:
KnobTweak → Files → Voyager → Kicking It Up.zip
Hope this helps you on your journey of discovery! ![]()
