Hi everyone !
I have a problem that I don’t know if anyone out there in MoogLand can help me with, but I’d greatly appreciate any advice.
I’ve just got my Moog Opus 3 set up in my home studio after many years of mothballing and warmed it up this afternoon. I’ve run into severe problems as a great many of the switches and pots are extremely crackly and some sounds actually cut out whilst I’m playing. The frequency slider of the strings filter is particularly bad and only seems to operate in one spot. I used to play my beloved Moog on stage with my band “The Space Truckers” and sweeping the strings filter frequency by hand was always a favourite trick of mine, and produced some wonderful sounds. Has anyone out there had similar problems with their Opus 3 and could advise me on how to restore my Moog to it’s former glory ? I spoke to my friend in the local music shop and he recommended buying a can of “Servisol Super 10” switch cleaning lubricant (aerosol can with the straw) which I duly purchased but am unsure of how to proceed - do I take the front panel off and squirt each pot and switch ? Has anyone found a way of removing all those crackles/dead spots for good ? (I don’t want to start physically messing around with the electronics, changing components etc.)
Any help would be most gratefully received.
Thanks everyone -
