I got my source today. It’s in pretty good condition. I did notice the wheel pitches up 13steps and down 11… anyone know a way to calibrate that back to 12up/12down?
Also, something I didnt know about the Source is that it’s low note-priority… which is really messing with my head, since I’m used to the Mg-1 (w/highnote priority). What Moogs have hi-note priority? Prodigy, rogue? The new Voyager? anyone know?
The glide on The source is a little different than I’m used to too… but I’m only about 3 hours into playing with it… I’m sure i’ll be madly in love soon enough
Liberation had high note priority, Memorymoog low/high/latest (in mono mode), the rest were low note. The Polymoog has a mono CV output that is high note.
It’s easy to calibrate the wheel. There is a hole at the top of the wheel where you can access an allen nut. Set the wheel where you think the mid point should be (off center), loosen the nut, move the wheel back to center, tighten the nut.
I am sure that you will luv your source, if you did not get a manual with it I posted a link undre vintage manuals that has both a manual and technical manual on The Source. Another cv’midi you could look at is the Future Retro Mobius, I think they are $325 new and it also has a built in sequencer among other features.
Ha . . I haven’t played my Source from the keyboard in years . . it’s plugged up to my Roland PK5 pedal board . . going to play the thing from the keyboard the next time I’m in the studio!
thanks guys. yeah, i’m a live player, honestly haven’t got a clue about midi.
The glide is really something odd though, can anyone compare their source to this description of mine?
If i set the glide to about “50” and play backandforth on 2 keys (say about 3 steps apart), the glide sounds fine… then if play up an octave or 2, the glide takes noticeably longer to get there. Shouldn’t the glide amount be the same regardless of the distance? I thought that was what the glide rate was for.
This reminds me of the glide on one of the chinsy casio sk-1’s
