Going to pick up my Taurus today!

Just got the call from the local shop that my pedals are in. I am lucky that I was able to get in late in the game (put the deposit on them a few weeks ago) and still get a set.

Totally stoked! Going to pick them up in a few here… which involves driving through snow which is unheard of in TX but hey it’s worth the risk!

So the shop bought pedals are arriving before mine? Hurrumph. :frowning:

i put my deposit down over a year ago. Not happy.

The shop must have put down an early deposit too… still, doesn’t seem quite fair, does it?

Hope I will get a emal this time (deposit on december 8-2008)

Holy crap! Any reservations, doubts, or potential regrets about dropping 2 large were blown away like cobwebs on the wind when I plugged that mofo into their stack and gave it a whirl… I think my consciousness astrally projected for few seconds there

Suffice it to say you guys won’t be disappointed! Now if you’ll excuse me I need to go form a space-rock band…

And yes the shop had them on order over a year ago, but no takers until I put down a deposit last week. This one is #46… No doubt - I lucked out!

awesome - it’s so good to hear everyone is enjoying the T3s!!!

I don’t know - “first come, first served, eh?” I’ll bet he doesn’t get the free shirt though, and even if by chance he does, I’ll wager dollars to donuts he doesn’t get the discount we did… Don’t fret, Mr. Arkadin, you’ll be playing them soon, and they are SO worth the wait!

Oh the shop will have got the discount, not the customer.

Sorry to be a bit of a grouch. i mean there’s nothing technically wrong with buying these with the sole intention of making a profit, just doesn’t sit well with me. And now everyone’s saying April which could be a bad month for work (ie. a lot) whereas at the moment i have been sitting on my arse for the last two months doing nothing.

Hey don’t be hating on people that have their Taurus pedals.

lolololol We all have Taurus Envy. It will be alright, brother.

I spoke with somebody at Sweetwater yesterday. They are taking orders for July delivery.

I think the fact that dealers purchased on speculation (like many of us) helped Moog make the whatever number needed and the decision to go to development sooner. And as a result we get them now instead of next summer. So I’m kinda glad that dealers were among the early faithful.

I’m glad whoever got their pedals now has, i’m not hating, get them by whatever means are at your disposal. I think it’s a bit rich to call the money speculators (dealers) ‘the faithful’ though. There’s nothing wrong with profiteering but that’s all it is, not some deep respect for the legacy. They knew they would sell and jumped in at the cheaper price to make a profit.

Anyway that’s enough of that, will just have to wait till April now.

500 number? i thought the preorder-discount-r&d-loan was limited to 250 individuals. or are you referring to the down payment of $500? i’m cornfused.

i also wish they were shipping FedEx instead of UPS. peeeeuwwww.

I think they had to have 500 preorders to make the project a go, but the 250 number seems to be stuck in my head for some reason.

I don’t remember that was a LONG time ago.

They wanted 250 pre-orders with $500 deposit.

Don’t feel bad, I had it the wrong way around when I was down to the factory.

There’s one available RIGHT NOW on ebay.

Right. They knew they would sell. They had faith that Moog would be able to produce the T3, as we did. I don’t understand what motivation has to do with it. They had no more advantage than an individual with the $$ to invest. My point is that their buying helped Moog raise the money faster than if Moog waited for individual musicians to purchase them one at a time, and we all benefited from the expedited production.

That said, if the dealers had been allowed to purchased large blocks of T3’s in the first few days and made it difficult for the individual to buy directly, I would feel that was unfair.

(End of thread hijack. Sorry!)

So a reseller snags one at the discount of $1695 then sells it on ebay for the retail of $1995, pocketing an easy $400 from a buyer who thinks he’s getting a bargain yet has zero knowledge of the markup.

When they do that with concert tickets they are known as “scalpers”.

Shady people, them.

I am totally cool with a dealer purchasing a set early and selling them for what they cost now. Come on. Scalper analogy doesn’t hold at all. They are selling them for what it would cost to order them from any dealer now.

They ordered them in this economy with no knowledge of how incredible they would sound.

wow, you really don’t understand how wholesale/retail works. do you think that stores buy things for $1995 and then sell them for $1995? i’ve sold test equipment for years and i promise you that a store wouldn’t even pay $1695 for something that sells for $1995. google around and learn what “a mark” and “b mark” is. then google wholesale versus retail. you’ll soon see that this is how companies pay for employees, healthcare, electricity, building insurance, taxes, rent, fuel, advertising, web, theft, damage, little league team sponsorships, etc. it never ends.

p.s. $1995 -1695 = $300 not $400
