Just got an Etherwave and loving it.
Was wondering if anyone had some settings and or EQ/FX tips for getting
that classic “RCA” sound.
I guess practicing a lot would help too. ![]()

Hello, I’m sorry it’s a month late seeing your question. I also have the E W Standard. The closest I’ve come to the RCA tone is to set the wave from to the 3 o’clock position, and the brightess to the 9 o’clock or 10 o’clock position. After that, I’d try using the bass and trebble settings on your amp, to fine tune with. Your speakers are the next thing that will affect tonal quality. I’m no expert, but I suspect that the age of the speakers used on those RCA theremins may be a prime suspect in the tonal charactoristics of the “classic” sound. I posed this question to tech support at Moog, and they advised me to try setting the wave form to 10 o’clock, and the brightness all the way up, but I found that if you keep the brightness no more than 10 o’clock, and the wave from anywhere between 10 and 3 o’clock, you should find the “Clara” tone in there somewhare. I’m still trying to find it myself. Tech support also suggested playing a copy of Clara Rockmore’s playing, or Hoffman, to use as a guide. It’s important to keep in mind that the classic theremins used tubes, which makes all the difference in tonal qualities. I hope this helps.
