Getting Midi to my Old Moog

Hello there,

I wanted to find out whether it was possible to achieve midi control incl pitch and gate for my MiniMoog D Synth with the following items

1x Minimoog D
1x S-Trig to 1/4 cable
1x Doepfer MCV4 Midi-CV converter.

And if not, what would be the cheapest way to do it.

Closest i’ve come is being able to control the pitch with a 1/4 to 1/4 cable coming from the MCV4 and Gate with the S-Trig, but it’s the inverse of what i’d like to be hearing, i.e. there’s noise all the time and when i press the key on my controller keyboard i hear nothing. Ideas?

According to Doepfer’s FAQ:

There is a jumper that you can set to change the standard gate output to an s-trigger output for your MiniMoog.

thanks for the reply. I managed to invert the trigger polarity on the MCV4 (by sending program change #8 in learn mode). I also had to send program change #19 to apply V/Octave. The Moog Triggers well now except that each note is slightly under a semitone so it goes progressivly out of tune the furter away from your start note you are. Can’t see how to change this. I think i’ll hit up doepfer and see if they’ve got any ideas

you can adjust the cv tracking inside the mcv4 , there is a small white little tuningpot for that. a good frequntietuner connected to the mini and not touching the shaft of your scrwdriver is all you need.
