Getting a selection of synths soon

Hi,

im considering getting a moog voyager and little phatty.

Which would give me the capabilities to do the most with the actual voyager or rme?

what woudl you guys think is the best possible combination of moog synths i can get which will enable me to do the most?

Thanks,
Ste

If price isn’t a issue, get a Voyager keyboard with a VX-351 CV expander… Then get a Little Phatty with the CV outs upgrade if you can get a hold of one.

Than you pretty much have it set. You can go modular with those.

I agree. But for just a little more money I’d add a CP-251.
The possibilities would skyrocket…

Don’t worry about any overlapping features of the VX-351 and CP-251.
Having two of something is a delicious luxury, not a regret.

One time I was trying to solve an Etherwave CV issue and said that I
hated having to use up two of my precious Attenuators on my CP-251.

EricK said: "Sounds like you need another CP-251 then. "

It didn’t sound very reasonable at first, but one day I found myself with
extra eBay money and decided that I was worth having two CP-251s.

It would be difficult for me to give one of them up now.

Most bang for the buck would be Voyager and Taurus III. You would never miss the Phatty.

Then get some nice digital polysynth and you would be set. (Until you discovered modulars.!)

Modulars n. A musical synthesizer system consisting of sound generators and modifiers (known as “modules”) that are free of standard industry configurations. Building a sound requires patch cables to connect various modules together. Typical modules are oscillators, filters, VCAs, envelope generators, LFOs, mixers, attenuators, and sequencers with eclectic modules available in names such as wogglebug or multi-dimensional kinesthetic input port. While a modular system is capable of a wide palette of sounds, it is time consuming to build the desired end result. With the exception of the Buchla 200e, patches cannot be stored in a computer for instant recall. Modular synthesizers can be a bottomless money pit as they can be expanded by filling gaps in cabinets or by adding cabinets. Operating a modular can be addictive and owners have been known to retreat into seclusion, isolating themselves from family and friends and surviving on a diet of beer and pizza so they can allocate maximum finances to expanding their system. Often they resurface on the internet to show off images of their system(s) under forum threads such as “Show us your gear” or on youtube. The Audabon Society reports that this species is rarely spotted in the wild and have been placed under “yellow” on their watchlist, meaning there is still time to repopulate this solitary species.

Appreciate the input lads…

Definitely gonna go for the voyager with expanders..

These are gonna be going into my little production studio im building out back.

Along with a virus TI2.

getting really excited to be honest ive been producing years but used mainly software and only gettting around to getting my first few pieces of hardware. hardware seems to be where its at for sound and just that general hands on feel i hate dodgy midi controllers with crappy knobs and faders lol.

Just me - i wouldnt be using my feet to control so i think the taurus 3 may be out of question i understand you could connect a midi controller to this machine but would this be much more suited than the lil phatty for really mean basses?

Mc - i lock myself in my room playing with vst and all as it is never mind when i get this new den kitted out. lol they may have to hook up a heart rate monitor just to see if i’m still alive bro.

Thanks again..

The Taurus III is the definition of really mean basses!

Mean is my middle name haha..

pity the place i was out having a look at synths had nothing remotely even like what im looking at getting and that’s probably the best spot around for synths and the likes..

I know you probably cant go wrong with anything moog though
