I chose something else because i use everything thru it. Anything is fodder for the Freqboy. Sometimes its nice and smooth and other times its angular and dirty and gritty. its a squelchy fatass pedal. I am going thru the getting to know u stage with mine. Im loving it tho…
FYI Thers one for sale on craigslist here in SF CA for $300
I got mine 2 weeks ago from a store in Ft Walton Bch, Fl.
He had it on ebay. S/N 0242
So far I’ve used it with guitar and with my Red Square synth.
Great for both apps, and it LOVES my Sherman FB2! Bass Murf is fun as well.
Have you tried plugging the Osc. Out on the Freq into the FM in on the FB2
Haven’t yet, but the weekend’s coming!
I love the Red Square - but I’m a guitarist, and new to synths. Still, the sheer ‘plugability’ of the thing is what sold me. I got it instead of the lil phatty because of that - as well as its fuller set of features.
I use the ADSR into the FB2’s FM for guitar a lot!
After I looked up the info on the Red Square Synth, I think that I need one! Wow, it looks like the best of both worlds, both as a monosynth and as an effects processor. It looks like it would be ideal to hook up with the Moogerfoogers, and it has all of the functionality of the CP-251 with many bonus features!
I use my Freq Box in a few different ways, many more to follow I am sure.
I use my Doepfer MCV24 (Midi to CV convertor) to give it note info through the Freq in, then take the osc out and run that through an attenuator to get a line level signal. Basically use it as a playable synthesizer voice.
I also like to run a drum sound into the audio in (I can alter the drum sound to create an envelope this way) and trigger the VCO by where I program the drum sound. I then use my Midi to CV convertor to play the freqbox with the freq in.
Lately I have been experimenting with running various ins/outs between my ring mod MF and the freqbox. When you start using the carrier in/outs as well as the audio in/outs and the osc out, you get some pretty rippy sounds as well as some old school house/acid sounds with just the sine wave.
I also plan on trying to use it as an extra osc with my Moog Rogue, Arp Odyssey and Arp Axxe at some point.
Buying another Freq isn’t out of the question either, it would be freq’n awesome to try to aquire enough to make a 3 VCO freq synth!

I have tried this as well, and it is awasome, expecially when you modulate the frequency on the RM with something cool.
