FreqBox+Voyager Samples

Added 3 more samples. This time I ran the VirusTI through the FreqBox. Check them out…I think the ambient folks will dig these.

As an aside…running this whole mess through the Frostwave Resonator is awesome! I’m sure the MF-101 has a similar effect.

The stock Voyager Nigel Bass patch played on its own, then through the Z.Vex Vexter Fuzz Factory, then through the FreqBox, then through both with a little bit of Frostwave Resonator filter tweaking at the very end since I couldn’t help myself. (Voyager->Fuzz->Freq->Res)

So far all impressions of this device suggest it’s the most awful sounding thing I’ve ever heard. I thought it was just the original soundclip that was bad, but every example posted so far sounds dreadful.

Is it possible to get a pure, rich, musical tone with one of these things, or does it always sound like an angry bee in a toaster?

I got a chance to hear one being played, and I must say you can get some really musical sounds from the Freq Box. I think a lot of the samples you have heard on the internet are extreme sounds the 107 can make. I saw the VCO track up and down the Voyager’s keyboard perfectly resulting in four oscillators. You can also tune it to whatever pitch you want for a drone. Then the Freq’s VCO started to be modulated from subtle to insane. This is a very cool pedal. I also saw it do some very musical exercises via a guitar. In some respects the 107 is like the Ring Modulator; it can give you very subtle musical tones when used in moderation. It can also give you wondrous mayhem when pushed to extremes. Moog is cool because with all their pedals they give you extreme for whenever you might need it.
