This is a demonstration that I did to show the effects of a Freqbox while it tracks a Theremin over the range of the Theremin. Notice that in the extreme upper registers, there is a point when moving towards the antenna where the sound kicks into a Ring Modulation.
For this I ran the Theremin into the Audio input of the Freqbox. The Audio out of Freq to my recording console. During this I had an expression pedal modulate the mix amount.
After about the 2:15 mark, I introduced sample and hold from the CP251 at varying rates to show how the freq might accompany the theremin.
The first 8 seconds are just the THeremin, then the Freqbox is brought up.
You can hear at the 41 second mark when the antenna passes a certian limit where the freqbox sound comes back on, i demonstrated this a few times until you can hear the first faint ring modulation.
At around the minute mark, you can hear me demonstrate the effect of the vollume Ant on the envelope follower of the Freq.
At 1:10 at the same part of the antenna noted from before (freqbox comes back on) with FM and envelope controls upwards, you hear new 8 bit style sounds, distorted and percussive and I beging to ascend the entire range of the theremin.
1:28 Ringmodulation from the Freqbox. Who woudl have thought? (Steve Dunnington perhaps?) Ringmod with FM.
At 1:38, as I ascend on the Theremin, hear the FM “beats” gradually slow down as I approach the antennas sweet spot (Where the 8 bit distortion kicks in that turns to Ring Modulation).
At 2:00 I turn the mix off the Freq to show my position is touching the theremin’s pitch antenna (for those theremin users out there).
2:10 propeller noises.
After the 2 minute mark I introduced the CP 251.
2:59 the S&H acts like an 8 bit percussion controller for the Freqbox FM.
Friends, this wasn’t intended to be a melodious listen, but to let you hear what the Freq Box does with a theremin. Its insane.
