My retailer told me that it would take a few months after sending in the order form. And I’m not even sure that Moog have even started shipping the CP-251’s yet. I think they won’t start til after Feb 1st when all of the order slips are due in by. I’m dying to get mine also!!!
Does that make this the official “waiting for our cp-251” thread? We could probably save moog some time on the phone by keeping this thread updated with what we/they know.
I’d get a half dozen short cables to wire things on the CP-251. Then you’ll probably want at least a couple that are long enough to reach from the CP-251 to your LP.
I don’t own a phatty but I got a really god deal on some 6 inch patch cables. I got 2 packs of 6 and I haven’t opened one. THis is for doing stuff like patching the LFO out to the mixer or an LFO to the mult or the mult to the attenuator or something like that.
IN addition to those:
Id get some 1 foot cables, some 2 foot cables, a few 3 foot cables and a couple of 10 foot cables.
Indeed I did a little reading in the manual about what kind of patch cords to use and, I must admit, I’m a bit confused I’m still somewhat new to this whole scene. It kept talking about red jacks and MF-Series devices and expression pedals and I think I’ve come to some understanding but it’s probably a bit more complex than it needs to be, so I think the questions are these:
Under what circumstances do you need to use TRS patch cords when patching from jacks on the CP-251 to other jacks on the same CP-251?
Under what circumstances do you need to use TRS patch cords when connecting the CP-251 to other devices?
Do you ever need anything besides typical TS and TRS patch cords? (The CP-251 mentions making cables with the ring not connected to anything, would a regular TRS cable do in all cases where you’d use that?)
I was thinking this might be the wrong forum for this, but the conversation seemed to be going there and I’m new to this forum, so I’m not sure what the etiquette is here for this kind of stuff, so I’ll move this/re-ask if I need to. I’ll also go search and see what I come up with.
Red Jacks aren’t used any longer. THoseare the older units. THe new ones have all black jacks but where the red jacks were is a black jack with a white ring denoting the same thing that the red jacks denoted: That they will supply power to an expression pedal going into that jack.
THe expression pedals are the EP2 and EP1 series pedals. They control stuff on the CP 251 like the LFO rate and such.
Honestly I can’t answer questions about the Jacks with certianty. If you have more than 1 CV going to a Fooger at a time they will cancel eachother out without a TRA cable. I think thats how that goes. Someone can answer that better than I. I think the answer lies in the Users manual for the Ring Modulator which can be found on the products page for the Ring Modulator.
I bought some cords from a company called OSP. I think they are based here in Arkansas. They make all kinds of gear like the rack cabinet that I bought. THe cords are color coded, white yellow green blue red and black. Wait those are the Belts in Taekwondo.
