Apologies for posting here, but I know it stands a good chance of going to a good home this way !

sigh
know how you feel…
i have been trying to sell mine for considerably less (good as new - now even better working than when i bought it!) for weeks. not one reply.
how moog music lives i don’t know…
these things don’t seem to sell. i smell exciting new products coming up at namm. i smell them. i can smell them. the smell of fresh synthesizers. hmmmm.
i’m crazy.
With functionally identical non-SE models selling for the prices they do, I think we’ll have to wait many years to see an advantage on the resale value of an SE. Most people don’t rationalise the SE against the original prices paid, they compare it to the current price (of a non SE) which is 2/3 of that.
Add the fact that they then expect it to be cheaper than a new one, and the price is just not right (even though it’s not a direct comparison).
I really wanted a Voyager, would have loved it to be a Moog badged one, and an SE would have been a big bonus, but not many were for sale.
When I picked up a used (but mint) one in London which was all three for £1400, I was left wondering the same thing - are the MMVs or MMV SEs hard to sell (Not that I ever, ever will).
boy, that’s losing a lot of money. i’m tempted to keep mine just for the sake of not losing all that dough. anyways, mine is a performer and i though i was really chopping off the price.
so might just hang on to it.
it doesn’t look like it’ll fall apart any time soon. unless some crazy person unleashes ww III and ireland gets involved. might as well create some more moog music.
!!! How much are new Voyagers going for across the pond? Here in the states I bought my AE new for less than $2500 which translates to a little more than £1400. You can buy used Voyagers on eBay for around $2000.
£2400 converts to about $4240!!! How much did you pay for it?
i paid 2000 UKP for the performer in 03 when it first came out. boy was i broke afterwards. and that’s not the sig ed!
i was seriously considering buying a welsh mini.
just couldnt find one. haahahaha
(that outrageous price may explain why i was not so perky when i found out about the erm… undocumented features)
broke & unperky is not good for inspiration. unless you’re a blues player.
Damn good deal. I thought about your other post industrial_gypsy. I’m glad this one resurfaced for ya! I hope the deal works out. Moogs should always be in happy hands!
As OysterRock pointed out, those prices are terrible in the UK for fellow Moogers (and then there’s turnkey ).
Yep, I’m started to get all excited again, just waiting for a reply. Might even persuade me to part with my Prodigy and Source if it’s as good as I hope it is.
Yea, very good deal for an SE. But all this just confirms what I was trying to point out about the resale value of voyagers and the different editions. It’ll be interesting to see what the second hand trading prices are of the new rumored budget mono settle in at.
Dear Kevin, Martin and to all the others who want to sell their “loved-ones”.
Once upon a time you went for it, you wanted to have the thing and now selling it ?
… Why ???
Is it the money you might need, is it that you don’t like the sound of it ?
Do you need more space for other things you might want to have and wil be selling too, again ?
Sell it and within the year you regret what you did and will try to get another one.
too much time spent dealing with the why’s and how’s in regards to technical issues and problems and repairs in comparison with the time spent actually enjoying the unit
too many features i don’t need or use (touchscreen, potmapping)
too many peripherals necessary to maintain it (manual is utterly useless; without these forums, i would have been lost in space), need breakoutbox, a pc for updates, expensive midi-usb cable, software for transferring OS. i am oldskool, not into computers. so yuck that.
overall, fun-wise (i mean by sheer playability) not quite as inspiring as my fantom xa which has meshuggene sitar sounds that turns me into a guru in a heartbeat, sampling, an arpeggiator, funky drums, cool sounding oscillators and all sorts of fun stuff, or even my ex-rogue which blasted me into mars orbit. i am amazed i’d say this, but that’s how i feel. yeah, the voyager isn’t fun. it’s like a chrushtchev. i want a seinfeld.
on the plus side, and this is the reason i am keeping it:
the sound is beautiful
if you think you’d have to sell it for half price, that hurts.
if moog would bring us a smaller synth i’d probably want it. but i’d wait until the initial bugs are ironed out.
Moving from LARGE house with dedicated music room to tiny studio flat.
Need to be brutally practical - my fully loaded Triton Pro X gives me all the basics that I need in order to express my creativity via electronic sound creation/synthesis.
Anyway, a keyboard is a luxury to someone who ‘got into this’ at the age of 6 by jamming a fork into the guts of a Mullard transistorised radio to see what sounds could be coaxed out of it.
How dare you say those things about the Voyager! Just kidding, I honestly don’t find the Voya as fun as playing with my Cwejman S1 Mk2. Yea, I can’t save my patches, but I don’t have to worry about OS updates. I don’t even have to use the onboard Midi/CV converter. And it’s fun patching those cables.
