I just bought a MF-101 to complement my MF collection, and this is my first sound sketch made with it (plus all the other gear I use: MF-102, MF-105, MF-107, CP-251, Boss DR-100, TC Electronic Flashback). The talking sound is made with the FM from the MF-107, and the Low Pass, of course. No sequencer, no keyboard – just S&H triggered by the DR-110’s trig output with a slow triangular LFO sent to the input.
Thanks guys! I realize it’s a bit lenghty, but I was so stoked about that “talking” timbre (and the way it was achieved without any LFO modulation), I just couldn’t bring myself to stop it
Next time I’ll try to use a few different patterns from the DR-110 to trigger the S&H to make some kind of a controlled S&H song.
You can make some pretty wild talking sounds with the 101, 102 & CP. there is an example in the CP manual I believe… Just be careful of the volume, the sound produced is very raw, and could use some EQing after the fact.
Well, haven’t got to that yet, but here’re a few more patches using the MF-101, and some more attempts at making the S&H musical. A lot of FM in there too (MF-107’s OSC Out fed back into Audio In). No sequencer, no keyboard.
