I was setting them up to play some Rush at a Sunday Jam and did a quick sound check with them. With the Taurus I patch set, I hit the E and the coolest, most ungodly sound emanated from the PA speakers. Now, I was wearing musician’s earplugs and I ACTUALLY HEARD THE RATTLE OF GLASSES AND BOTTLE ON THE TABLES! I released the pedal, stood for a brief moment in sheer awe and heard a handful of shocked responses from the crowd - and saw the host band guitarist quickly pulling the fader down. “Awesome!” I thought. (Up until this point, I’d only ever played it relatively quietly through my Behringer guitar combo amp I use for teaching. I also recorded it a few nights ago - the most insane waveform I’ve ever seen, but that’s another topic!)
At any rate, I then heard the single greatest statement I could about them from one of the host Jam band members… stepping up to his mic, he proclaimed “Okay, now that everyone has just s**t their pants, we can carry on…” Priceless! I don’t recall ever laughing so hard in my life, and I certainly had a difficult time losing the ear-to-ear smile I had.
Again, major thanks to Cyril and the entire Taurus team at Moog. That one remark has officially laid to rest any and all reservations I had about paying $2200 for them.
