A small and nice feature added - you can now browse through the presets list directly from the keyboard, using the Up and Down keys.
Choose a preset from the top menu
Click Up or Down arrow keys to browse through the active presets list
We definitely see this as the last beta version for 1.0.0, and we need to know it’s good enough before we make the official 1.0.0 package, so please report any issue.
Here are my findings,
Using the standalone editor x64, 1.1.28/0.9.50
Issues:
• In the editor, when you select a category for your patch, then hit save…the category is always switched to “misc”.
• On save, seq mod destinations change to the one above in the list seemingly:
Filter EG Amt switches up to FLT SLP
Filter Drive switches to FILT RES
OSC 2 LVL switches to SubOSC LVL
• Randomize changes all the synth params and leaves the sequence stuff alone, which is great. However, randomized patches also change ratchet values, which I would think should be stored in part of the sequencer memory, not the patch memory.
• Randomized sequences are inconsistent. There are always very large gaps in note values, many notes are between -2 to 0 values OR end up being G8 (mostly unusable). If the randomized range was something a little more musically useful, that would be a great fix.
• Randomized sequences would also be much more useful without all the rests and ratchets. Just notes. That’s more of a request.
Features wanted:
• Pressing save when working on a patch just immediately saves that patch. There is no option to decide where you’d like to save it, or confirm a save. I accidentally overwrote some good patches that I used as base starting points.
• Knobs should snap to 0 such as LFO Pitch/Filt Amounts, or you should be able to right click to reset the knob to zero. I had difficulty getting things back to 0. Especially the LFO pitch amounts.
• The tooltips on the knobs should show actual values that are being edited, not the huge number values currently. Example +/- 5v etc.
• Noise is just too dark for my liking. I really wish there was a brightness control somewhere for it in Global.

Thanks for the deep overview.
I could reproduce the sequence SAVE issue and reported.
I can’t however reproduce the MISC issue. What is the specific flow you are using when this happens ? Can you perform GET and see if it still happens ? Please reply asap if possible, as we want to pack up 1.0
I will leave it to Amos to respond about your Randomize questions and suggestions and they are at the product design level.
I double checked the “Misc” issue. What it is actually doing is reverting the category back to whatever the patch was originally. I just happened to be working off of an Init Preset so it was going to “Misc”
When I work with a premade preset for instance and do some edits, then change to a new category, ON SAVE it will go back to what the patch was before (i.e. B.1,P6 Sparkleslide in Evolving) I can edit the patch, maybe make it into more of a sequence sound, select sequence category, but on save it goes back to “Evolving”. Performing capture hardware had no change in behavior.
However, if you change a preset’s category in the mid-pane of the editor, and click Save, it won’t save that preset into the synth unless you actually copy (drag) it to the right pane and SEND (or have AUTO SEND enabled, which does this automatically).
Load a patch, from the editor, by double clicking any patch in the hardware presets column.
Change category in the preset browser drop down, at the top.
Click save on editor.
After reiterating and testing again. I did realize that this isn’t the way to go about doing it with the editor. It just seems like it should be! In order for you to make changes like this, the patch must be dragged into the middle pane, category selected, then dragged back into the hardware presets.
I see now that the top pane is simply a navigation area, but the save buttons being next to them threw me off perhaps.
Salmagundi/ComputaGames (HelloSamples).syx
It isn’t a Sub 37 preset (or maybe it’s some other preset format).
At any rate, it’s sort-of a duplicate of the corrected one that is there: ComputaGames.syx.
Trash Audio/Richard Devine/Devine Presets.syx
This is an “all-presets” dump, not a single preset file.
It was there, then was gone, now it’s back. Woo.ooo.ooo.
I like how the extra presets were moved into their own Moog Music folder. That’s a nice distinction from the user’s presets. Well done! And the cursor keys for the browser is great!
(User manual still has “recieved” and “plig-in” - I know, I know, it’s not ready yet.)
There are 14 “extra” presets in the Trash Audio / Richard Devine folder.
These are copies of his other presets, but with leading spaces in the actual filenames.
The effect is that there are duplicate entries in the Preset Library list for the Richard Devine folder. Which one gets edited? Can’t tell without leaving the editor.
It looks like they’ve been there for several releases (although 0.9.49 was OK, and the older releases actually had a 15th one: “Abstract LEAD” ). I should have caught this before… Sorry.
The ones with leading spaces (put into a ‘code’ block to show the leading spaces):
SCATTER BASS.syx
Arcadia.syx
BOC PAD.syx
Classic Bassline.syx
Data Mines.syx
Electro Bubbles.syx
Hoover Bass.syx
RANDOM HI-HATS.syx
VOODOO RAY.syx
LEAD DUO.syx
Mod Bubble Bass.syx
Music Is Math.syx
Stop & Go.syx
Texture Lead.syx
The “regular” ones:
Arcadia.syx
BOC PAD.syx
Classic Bassline.syx
Data Mines.syx
Electro Bubbles.syx
Hoover Bass.syx
LEAD DUO.syx
Mod Bubble Bass.syx
Music Is Math.syx
RANDOM HI-HATS.syx
SCATTER BASS.syx
Stop & Go.syx
Texture Lead.syx
VOODOO RAY.syx
Like a prompt that comes up and says “Are you sure you want to overwrite?” or something? I like that. However, how would we make it easier when we simply want to save? Like an undo button? That might be too much. There’s something to this, though…
Hello. Im having some trouble installing the firmware it seems. I downloaded the firmware then set the cut-off and fine tune to low. Restarted my Sub37. the screen reads “Firmware Update Ready For Code”. The Firmware updater says that my installed version is “unknown”. Cancel is greyed out as well as the progress bar underneath. Help?
