Update
Cyril Lance and the Moog engineering team continue to make excellent progress on the Little Phatty. > It is sounding great and we plan to surprise you with some as yet unannounced features. > Our planned Summer time shipment schedule appears to be on track. Also, those of you who have pre-ordered may want to add an LP Gig Bag to your order.Check it out! < > http://www.moogmusic.com/detail.php?main_product_id=233> >

how about some clues!

I would love to see something like a CV out of the envelope generator or other parameters.

how about an output of the mod bus?

I suspected some additions to the “listed” specs before the LP was released, and posted such on this forum. However, now that the LP has debuted, I am a bit surprised that they are talking about changes now.

I wish that I knew what they were…

I don’t care that much about noise–every other analog synth that i have has that feature. I would love to see the LP grow a sequencer–that was heavily rumored before the LP was released.

I am kind of in a holding pattern regarding the purchase of the LP, and will probably wait for the Stage version. However, if indeed they are to add a sequencer, my VISA pops out immediately for a Tribute.

Most likely, the additions are something small, such as CV out’s etc., and not something major like a sequencer.

ANYBODY have a clue on this???

as i wrote in another thread i’d like to see s+h for the lfo, or any other kind of auto trigger like on the rogue; so that the LP can sound out randomly on its own.
this couldn’t be too hard to add.
it would definitely add to the character and versatility of the phatty.

Yes,

Sample and Hold that can be linked to a MIDI clock would be nice. That and a MIDI linked sequencer are both things that I miss with my Source.

whoa, “linked to midi-clock”.
thats a killer idea. if you would implement s+h it would only be a consistent knack.

Did the press release say they were going to surprise us with some bonus features or that they were asking for suggestions?

“…yet unannounced features”, is what the press release says.

I am trying to figure out what those unannounced features are… They may make the difference of me purchasing a Tribute LP or a Stage LP. I would hate to miss out on the Tribute because I was not aware of what I was purchasing…

What do you mean? Do you think one of them will have additional features that the other does not (I thought the differences were going to be mainly cosmetic to get the price down).

Has Moog done this in the past with tribute models vs. regular editions?

Thanks.

I for one hope that Moog focuses on sound-enhancing functions like noise/S&H, FM or more mod sources/destinations, or even a few more keys at the bottom of the keyboard. I loved the sound of the BP/HP filter on Voyager, so HP would have been great, though I know this is very unrealistic to expect. This is a player’s instrument IMO, and I think a sequencer should be left out of this one.
I think it’s most likely that Moog are talking about midi-functions, since that hasn’t been disclosed yet, maybe cc-send via the knobs, polyphonic midi send from keyboard etc. Though, maybe they’ll suprise us bigtime!
I can’t wait to get my hands on my (preordered) LP tribute edition. It’s gonna be an amazing synth.

How about a decent arpeggiator and a “phrase recorder”, that would
replay your knob tweaks while you jam on the keys or play an
arpeggio?

rachel

Or a sequencer.

omg,

Do you think one of them will have additional features that the other does not

i didn’t think of it this way. please moog, don’t do that. :frowning:
i’ll go with cosmetical changes to get the price down, but not cutting off features in the 1000$ moogie.
for that is what it would mean: adding a feature in the tribute edition is just another term in the advertising sphere for cutting a feature in the stage edition.

how probable is that they proceed like this?

wow, this is turning into a huge wishlist. i think they should keep it simple and plain and as lovable as it is without cramming more stuff in.

see my latest post in the “if you could change one thing” thread.

i so wished it was like that.

I don’t think that functionally they will be different, but the stage version will not be as “pretty”. That “prettyness” is not worth an extra $400 to me as the LP stands now, but if they add some features that I like, I would spend the money in a heartbeat. I guess that I am basing it on what I am willing to spend for what the unit does.

LOVE the look of the LP Tribute, but it is hard for me to spend the extra cash vs the Stage for something that has fewer features than a MEK. Add S&H and a sequencer and now I am willing to spend the extra cash to get the look and the features.

Features aside, what about the sound? Personally, I don’t care for the MEK. That’s just me though.

I think to implement that Korg-esque technology would not only be a huge pain (not to mention totally UN-Moogie) but require more than their RAC technology, which seems great as it is. REAL ANALOG ! Correct me if I’m wrong, Knob movement memory (motion sequences, mod sequences) are more of the digital synth (and VA) world than that of the true analog world ..

If you have a Korg that does this already (ms2000, electribe, etc) I’m sure it can be midi to a Voayger or LP to simulate this effect.. If I midi my MS 2000 out to my MMV and tweak the cutoff on the MS, both cutoffs are tweaked in unison. So you could record the “Motion sequence” on the ms 2000, but only use the MS 2000 for controlling the MMV .No output from mS2000…

Anyway, I still think being able to use one encoder (on the LP) for two or more functions, might be cool too. It would be like a ghetto touch screen, with less range… But fun no less…
