Following on from factorplayer’s thread i had an idea.
When the Arp is in MIDI Ext it takes tempo from MIDI and displays rate in divisions like 8, 8T etc. When set to Int it just has a huge number that doesn’t seem to relate to anything: i mean how fast is 2496?
So my request would be to have an Internal mode that allows you to enter a tempo manually (either from the knob or tap), but which displays the tempo and can be saved in a preset. This way when adjusting the rate you get the divisions rather than a big number. This would also be useful if you are using the Taurus as a master MIDI device as you would know the exact tempo you are sending to other devices.
A translation and display of bpm (ie. 120) would be good in either case… maybe cram it into the upper right 3 digits of the display so regardless of the mode (Midi, int), you see that.
I’ve become accustomed to using my MP-201’s channel to drive all Midi clock in my setup (slave Sequencer to it, Taurus, 105M, LP ARP, and a Metronome).
The metronome is a relatively low-tech Boss DB-90 and while I do not use it too much, the BPM display portion of it is very handy (especially when I cannot be bothered with my computer [most of the time when I’m just playing]).
Yes I am definitely planning a BPM display.
There’s an excellent firmware update coming next week, but BPM didn’t make it in to this one.
We are already putting together the list of things we want to work on for the following update… I’ll make sure BPM display is on there.
Already a firmware update? Some people haven’t even got their Taurus yet! Will they be getting the new firmware already updated? I can’t be the only one thinking this…
