Favorite Patch Cables?

Hi there:

This is my first post, so allow me to introduce myself. I’m a bass player with an interest in analog effects. Basically a tone junkie.

I’ve been slowly acquiring a set of moogerfoogers and looking forward to learning how to patch them all together. Currently, I’m building a rack for my 6 foogers and cp-251, which brings me to my first question:

What patch cables are your favorite for the CV in/out?

I’ve been using George L’s in my regular effects rig and love the smaller plugs and solderless design, but they don’t do TRS. My understanding is that if you use a non-TRS cable it will kill your ability to use expression pedals for CV which is key.

Thanks for the help!

Best to just solder your own cables. Mogami mic cable and either or Neutrik or Switchcraft plugs.

I use cheapo TRS cables off Ebay. You can get 12"-36" patch cables in multicolors for $10-20US or so. For audio connections I use better-grade cables but for CV the cheapo stuff works great.

I hadn’t thought about just using some HOSA cables in multicolors for doing the CV patches… But true, the connectors aren’t especially bulky, and the different colors would make patch tracing easier.

Is noise pretty much a non-issue regarding CV cables?

Thanks!

I do the same thing Colonel does, same cables too. The price is right. You won’t need to worry about noise/rf unless you have alot of interference normally in your area. use mogami for audio and whatever else for cv, basically!

I haven’t had crosstalk problems.

Oh-- and the “$10-20” bucks is for TEN cables if you find the right guy on Ebay and varies by length of course.

Thanks guys.

I checked out those cables on Ebay, and yah multi-color is the way to go, and it won’t break the bank like the nice cables will.
