Fatal Error :Keyboard overrun

Fatal Error
:Keyboard overrun

As I was playing this message appeared just like this on my LP ST and it would not play any more, until I turned it off and back on. This is the second time this has happened.

What is this.
Why did it happen
Is there something wrong with mine.

This would be a nightmare if you were on stage

help !

It also happened to me…
No problem:
send an e-mail to the moogmusic support and they will send you an update with the latest firmware.

Since I updated everything is OK, the error disappeared…

Thanks Amos!

Only one question:
Why do not post a direct link for the firmware updates in the download section of the Little Phatty?

Why do not post a direct link for the firmware updates in the download section of the Little Phatty?

Link is up now!

All better now,
Thanks Amos !

Two nights ago i plugged my guitar into my ring mod and the out put of the ring mod i put into the audio input on my LP TE. I turned the vco’s down turned and played around with the filter and envelopes. It sounded great but it caused my lp to freeze up, all sound stops and the screen reads fatal error keyboard overrun. Well it was late at night and my girl friend wakes up to tell me to go to bed so I turn off the lp unhook everything and go to bed. Next morning it startsup and works fine until I try to use cv I stick a dumby plug in the keyboard gate engage my murf start playing with osc 2 freq (drone heaven) and all of a sudden silence. I look at the screen, fatal error keyboard overrun. This has happenned about ten times now in the last two days and pretty much only when i am using one or more of the cv jacks. i’m running the latest version of the firmware rev: 103 TC 443 What’s up? please help.
 [/img] i’m posting this october 6 2007 at the top it says its july, not outside my window.

So this happens when you have a dummy plug in the KB Gate, and are not playing any keys on the LP keyboard? No Midi sent to it, also? Does the error happen always when you are using the controls of the LP (changing osc2 frequency, etc.) or has it ever happened when you were just playing the guitar and listening to the LP - as in, not touching any LP controls at the time of the crash… ?

Thanks for reporting this! I appreciate any additional info you can share and I will look into this directly.

no it freezes up doing different things and today during the three hours i spent playing it, it froze up maybe six times. not real consistent today. I thought I had it figured out with the keyboard gate plug, because this morning it crashed three times in a row after just a few minutes of having the dumby plug holding open the keyboard gate the sound would get softer then eventually go away then the screen would freeze up.
If I could be content to just play the stock patches it would crash less. It seems to crash when im using cv or editing a parameter. The only bad thing I just remembered I did was a few nights ago I hooked midi in on my lp to midi out on a micro korg and then midi in from the micro korg back to midi out on the phatty, in hopes of using the new polyphonic feature and midi merge I was hoping to control the voices of the micro korg with the lp and add the lp’s voice to the mix and use the mk’s effects too. I got in the lp’s menu and changed the polyphony it didnt work real well and this was the first time it froze up and wouldn’t make a sound but I didnt get the error message til later that night when i ran my guitar and ring mod through it. I now realize I probably created a midi feed back loop. When i midi’ed one synth back into the other. Did I fry anything inside my LP Amos?

Come to think of it it did crash a couple of times that night when I was just playing my guitar through it just listening to the neat sounds.

P.s. Amos the fact that a guy as busy as you takes the time on a saturday to help one of Moog’s customers who is having problems with his pride and joy. Says alot about your character,(good things) alot about Moog Music and the wonderful instruments that you all make. It also tells me you’re one of us. you understand how important these instruments are to us.

So I did a few factory resets that day to no avail. The next day I woke up and played it maybe an hour(it was sunday my girlfriend was home)and no freezing up.
Monday I played the LP and used cv for at least a few hours with no freezes. So today, knock on walnut no more freezes, but I notice osc 2 is causing a pulse on every patch that uses osc 2 not synced. so i go to the ca patch and turn on osc 2 and try to match the frequency to osc 1. I can’t. The closest i can get the second osc still resets a little bit after the first osc making a pulsing sound. So I do a pitch wheel calibration actually close to ten times because the middle number wont settle on a number. I tried tapping the side of the case. I finally just hit enter and now I’m doing all the other calibrations just hoping all will be fine when everything is finished. Question, why wouldn’t my pitch wheel settle on a middle number? Is it bad that I hit enter anyway and started note calibration?

I ran the 4 different calibration settings in the right order twice. It was better after the first pass the second pass seemed to do the trick. Question though. The last step calibrating osc 2, In the manual it says osc 2 calibration will begin with midi note 60. Both times I ran it, it started with midi note 72. What’s up with that?

same osc 2 weirdness today. im not in the mood to spend 6 hours recalibrating everything today. Anyone want to buy a used LP tribute that has the added bonus of having that vintage model d oscilator drift.
