Ever slept to the sound of your moog?

White noise machines for sleeping can be expensive, but I’ve taken it to an absurd level.

I patched my cp-251, murf, and low-pass filter, and lo, I have re-created the soothing sound of the ocean, it’s like I’m back in Del Mar, CA. Anyway, just had to share. If anyone can appreciate the luxury of snoozing to the sound of moog circuits, it’s got to be you fine bunch. Yeah, the extra hours of operation time on the gear is a drag, but as they say, you can’t put a price on good health.

Awesome, man. Could you post a video/clip and maybe how you did it?

Cheers

I just use an air filter machine that produces a constant soft whispering white noise. It’s not as sophisticated as having analog virtual waves coming in and out, but it works.
Great idea though, this could be the first therapeutic use of Moog gear outside the intense pleasure of playing music with it.

Great inspiration man! Thanx

Please post Your soundscape, I’m very interested.

As for “gear time”. You can just record 8 hours of it and play it back.
I think most of us listen to their Moog through an audio interface of their computer, so there’s A/D conversion going on anyway.

I’ve been thinking about trying to sleep with a white noise machine for some time, i’ll try to recreate this effect today. I have two CP-251, two mf-101, midimurf and LP so I think about using the envelopes and random triggering to add sweeping louder “waves” from time to time. Then some white noise wind and resonant filter sweeps (whan my friend calls “dolphins”) and voila! Sea soundscape

Thank You, You really got my head kick into high gear!

I have a small gear in my head called Tinnitus
This is a nice noise machine but there’s no “off” switch :frowning:

Try running it through a preamp, filter, then a speaker and see if you can get some feedback.

Too bad you can’t pass that thru an mf-101…

Jokes aside, this condition is no laughing matter sometimes depending on the severity . I sympathize with you and hope it doesn’t prevent you from sleeping at night.
