Hi, I live in Australia and just recieved my brand new Moog etherwave standard theremin which I bought through a registered dealer off ebay…I unpacked the beauty, set it up and plugged the power adaptor in…BAM and heaps of smoke…It blew up!
I have since found out I was sent the 110v adaptor (which you can’t tell as neither 110 or 240 was ticked on the sticker on the adapter…which I reckon sucks!!) and that is why it blew up as Australia uses 220V
Anyway I now have no powersupply and no one in Aus stocks anything similar in voltage and milli amps…
any suggestions? can I use a similar voltage…eg 16v instead of 14v…and 500ma instead of 200ma?
hey sorry to hear about what happend, i hope it’s only the power supply
i also live in aus and have the std etherwave, i presume you got yours from http://www.awave.com.au if you did or didn’t they should be able to set you up with a new power supply.
just looked at mine, neither box was ticked on that either GRRR!!! what are they playing at! why have the boxes if they’re not gonna tick em!
Yeah exactly why have the boxes if ur not gonna tick them to let us know?
I didn’t have an invoice that listed the power supply and type on it so how was I to know that the dealer I bought it from ordered the right part as in this case it seems he didn’t!
It’s a high priced item that I expect I shouldn’t have these kinda hassles with. That’s why I bothered to pay the price instead of building my own in the first place.
