I went to the Simon and Garfunkel concert in Sacramento on 11/20/03, and I got an extra surprise - an EtherWave theremin played live! It was during their performance of “The Boxer,” and it was used to play the instrumental solo. They showed a closeup on the diamond screen of the keyboardist playing the part, and he played with skill such as I’ve seen before only in performances by pros like Clara Rockmore and Lydia Kavina. Everybody around us was asking what he was playing, but I just wanted to listen - I was really stoked!
I’ve been playing a theremin that I built for several years, and I’ve never been able to come close to making it sound like an actual tune, and now I know I’ll have to get an EtherWave.
