The cable from the EP2 has a Tip Ring Sleeve connector (I believe). The Ring has a power source and the tip has the resulting postive voltage. The sleeve is the ground/negative. When a mono Tip Sleeve Cable is inserted into a Stereo Tip Ring Sleeve jack, the Ring is shorted out to the sleeve. This is why it is slightly more difficult to split the EP signal.
You could wire up 2 TRS jacks to each other in parallel, this makes sure you are getting your power supply to the pedal. Then wire up a jack that is connected to just the Tip and Sleeve of those, this splits your signal. You could wire up as many of those as you would like (or use mono Y cables to expand it). The add-on jacks won’t short out your power source that way.
You could also get 2 stereo “Y” cables and a mono “Y” cable and hook it up like this:

cool, thanks for your answer.
No problem. I hope it helped you!
The dot com multiple module doesn’t require any additional power, just some sort of box to put it in
Is it a TRS multiple though? It looks like a TS to me, which would short the power to the pedal. The CP-251 has one TRS and 3 TS so it works with the pedal.
