EP-2 Questions

I have two of these on the way for my Ring Mod and have a couple of questions:

  1. For space reasons I will need to plug the EP-2 connector jack into a right angle adapter before going into the Ring Mod. Can I use a standard 1/4" insturment cable adapter? The connector diagram looks like it has two rings on the jack.

  2. The online one page manual is pretty vague on how the Attenuator works. How shall I use this feature?

Thanks,

  1. It is a stereo plug, so you’ll need a stereo adapter. Personally, I’d find a way to use it without the adapter.

  2. It’ll be useful for establishing the extremes of the pedal. Your heel down position will be the low point of the ring mod knob’s setting. The high point will be set with the attenuator.

I will forego the adapter as you suggested.

From what I understand, I will need to adjust the knob/s on the MF to the lowest point I desire with the heel down to lock in that low position. Will the attenuator take it beyond the toe down position? I’m still a little lost there…

An example might help:

You might want to plug your EP-2 into the Mix control on the ring mod. If you set the Mix knob on the ring mod to 0, then the heel value will be 0 and the the toe value might be 10. If you wanted to only go from 0 to 5, then you can use the attenuator to attenuate the signal so it goes from 0 at the heel to 5 at the toe. If you only wanted the range to be from 4 to 6, then you’d set the mix on the ring mod to 4 and adjust the attenuator on the pedal so that that that the toe setting makes it go to 6.

Hard to explain, but easy to do once you have the EP-2 in hand.
