Well folks I just tried to re-create the famous bass sequence from Depeche Mode’s ‘Enjoy The Silence’ on my Little Phatty Stage II.
This is it: http://tagirov.net/gear_test/ets-bass-lp.mp3
Sorry, I don’t have software editor to share the preset with you.
But if there is any alternate way, let me know how :^)
Hope you’ll like it ![]()
Nice. I detect a spring reverb in there? Are you using a modulated filter for the movement or something else? Delay and octave shifter in use or just precise playing (guessing the latter).
As for how to get the patch out, get your hands on a SysEx program and then SEND the single preset from Phatty to your computer (will be a 380something byte file likely).
Yes, I added a little reverb in ableton after recording audio sequence from moog.
The filter is modulated by velocity.
None other delays and octave shifters.
I’ll try to find a way to record sysex to ableton midi part…
No. it doesn’t working.
well, if you have ableton live you can download live pack with sequence
http://tagirov.net/gear_test/ets-bass1.alp
unpack it using live’s option to open packs and choose a destination folder
there is also a midi file with sysex in project folder
but you have to send this sysex using other software because abletone live doesn’t support sysex
beware, when you send sysex to LP it will overwrite your current preset forever, be sure you have backup
only sysex file here: http://tagirov.net/gear_test/ets-sysex.mid
cheers
502 - Bad Gateway error.
Can’t download/access the file.
try open http://tagirov.net/gear_test and then Save as option on files in the list
Thanks for that, works great.
For those of you having trouble, I saved the 387 byte “ets-sysex.mid” to my Mac desktop, then dragged it to SysEx Librarian (running v1.2 which can be had here http://www.snoize.com/SysExLibrarian/), then clicked on it and pressed the play button. Presto.
would be nice if you tried to make a part of the song with all instruments ![]()
I think it is unreal since I am not Mr. Wilder and have no other gear they used on ‘Violator’ ![]()
I’ve read somewhere that the choir chords are ‘Emulator Choir’ sample.
Have no idea which other gear they used on this song.
My attempt to re-create this bassline is just a way of getting know my LP better with all its ‘hidden’ possibilities.
AFAIK the originas bass line was made with mini moog and arp sequencer.
that’s some nice info about this wonderful song ![]()
This video is very symbolic. The old depeche will never come back as these two towers where the video was shoot.
